Hand-graded crocus stigma from Pampore — roughly a hundred and fifty flowers to the gram — over amberwood, benzoin resin and Mysore sandalwood. The saffron opens bright and almost metallic, then leathers as it warms. The room keeps it after you have gone.

Crocus sativus
GI-certified stigma, hand-picked at first light and separated under a tin roof. On the plate saffron reads sweet; in a composition it does the opposite — dry, faintly metallic, almost leathered.
